Frequently Asked Questions
What is a college coach or college consultant?
A college coach, also referred to as a college consultant, is a person who guides students through the college admissions process. The service can include helping students select colleges, complete applications and essays, and much more depending on when in the process they hire a college consultant.
How is Playbook different from other college coaching companies?
Playbook differs from other college coaching companies because it is truly coaching. I used a sports theme because I respect the relationship that coaches and athletes have. As a coach, I serve as a guide and accountability partner to my clients. I meet them where they are in the process of college readiness/admissions and create a playbook based on their needs, goals and aspirations that will allow them to get there.

Another difference is pricing—College Consulting is expensive; often $3,000 to $10,000 or more. I wanted to make this much needed service accessible to the masses, so I knew I had to offer my services at a much lower price point. To do this, I structured my services so that my work with my clients is strategic and provides them with the information and guidance they need while also being time and cost effective for me. I zero in on the steps and actions that are most necessary to get students through the (college prep and) admissions process without offering and charging them for nonessential services that drive up the price.
Why would students who aren’t seniors need college coaching?
The college admissions process doesn’t begin senior year in high school although many students erroneously think it does. A person who wants to go to Harvard, can’t make that decision as a senior and expect to have taken the right classes, earned the required grades, and participated in the extracurriculars that would make him or her eligible to get into such a competitive university. Even if a student does not have ivy league aspirations, ALL colleges have criteria that make students more attractive in terms of admissions and scholarship dollars. In order to be attractive to these colleges, it is imperative that students have a strategy and follow a plan that ideally, starts their first year of high school to ensure that they have built a transcript and resume that prepares them for the college admissions process.
What can students at each grade level expect?
Detailed package information is available on the website but in general, clients at each grade level begin the coaching season with a diagnostic and analysis that allows our coaches to build a player profile for that student and create a detailed analysis of what he/she needs to do to meet their goals. Check out our services pages for more detailed descriptions of the packages offered for each grade level.
What are your payment options?
We accept payment in full or a down payment of half to start the diagnostic and analysis process. After the analysis consultation, the balance is due. We must have full payment before we create the client’s playbook and the actual coaching services begin. We accept PayPal, Zelle, CashApp and Venmo.
Why should I hire a college coach for my child?
Getting into college is more competitive and high pressure than it has ever been before. Just look at the infamous college admissions scandal that put celebrities and others in jail for paying massive amounts of money and committing fraud in an effort to “cheat the system” and get their children into prestigious universities. For students who plan to go to college, getting into the right college AND receiving scholarship money to attend, is the foundation for being able to successfully start their lives. Because the college admissions process has changed so significantly, having an expert to demystify, plan, manage, and guide you through the process is crucial to saving time and avoiding costly mistakes. Additionally, emotions of both parents and students are flying high at this time, so it helps to have a knowledgeable third party in the picture to diffuse tension and create an easy to follow plan that breaks down the many deadlines, requirements and steps into easily managed components.
What if I need something that’s not included in my grade level package?
We have add-ons and customizable a la carte services that you can choose from such as college essay revision, mock interviews, etc.
Do we meet face-to-face?
No. My services are conveniently structured to eliminate barriers such as proximity to me, traffic, weather, and other circumstances that prevent people from being able to meet. The weekly huddle call and other regular communication can occur from the convenience of your home, on the ride home from school or practice, or even while you’re on vacation.
